MP's son apologised to hurt girl after crash
The District Courtroom has noticed that the son of a WA politician went to the bedside of a woman critically hurt in a boat crash and tearfully apologised for what had took place.
Luke Woollard, the son of independent MP Janet Woollard, is staying sued by Kate Campbell, 24.
Woollard was drunk when he crashed his father's uninsured boat into a navigational pylon on Perth's Canning River in 2007.
Ms Campbell experienced existence-threatening injuries, including a broken pelvis, vertebrae, jaw and ankle, a shattered larynx and a torn oesophagus.
Yesterday, she gave proof that she advised Woollard to slow down and the subsequent factor she remembered was waking up 12 times afterwards in hospital, unable to speak or move and respiratory by way of a tube inserted in her neck.
Below cross examination, Ms Campbell informed the courtroom that when she was in intensive treatment Woollard arrived to her bedside crying and apologised.
